For
What does David Simon mean by ‘slow suicide’?
Slow suicide is the whole industry will continue to collapse until everyone swallows hard and goes behind a paywall.
Why does he mean by saying anti-paywall people “don’t understand the first thing about actual journalism”? The people who are against putting up paywalls.
What does he mean by “journalism is a profession”? Journalism is a profession; it requires careers, and careers require a living wage, and until newspapers recover a revenue stream for their online product, they have no future. What do you think made 1 million people pay for the NYT(New York Times)?s
The New York Times talked about the new values which made readers feel connected, informed and were able to relate.

Against
What does he mean by “Band-Aid to cover a bullet hole”? As more newspapers move to paywalls, it comes clearer to me that publishers are attempting to use a Band-Aid to cover a bullet hole. By putting up paywalls readers are only allowed to read a certain amount of context until the paywall aka band-aid is put preventing you from reading the rest of the article unless you pay.
How much would you pay for Facebook (or any other social network)? Why this much? I would not pay for facebook, I would only pay £1 a month for other social medias like Snapchat and instagram its apps that i use on a regular basis and £1 is an affordable price.
What would make you pay to read a newspaper? (Value-added content) If the newspaper included stories which were diverse and mention topics I could relate to. Otherwise I would not pay for a newspaper.
